Bessborough under-17s maintained top spot of the Middlesex Colts Association North Area Division 1 with a 34-run win against Eastcote on 25 May.

Skipper Akshay Hirani won the toss and decided to bat first, before hitting aquick-fire 50 in 34 balls, well supported by Kishan Karia (28). Bessborough finished with 154 for 3 after 20 overs.

In reply, Eastcote lost two quick wickets and despite opener Miraj Patel (48 not out) batting through the innings, Bessborough's tight bowling and fielding restricted them to 120 for 6.

The pick of the Bessborough bowlers was U15 regular Saahal Vora (2-16).

Middlesex Colts Association North Area U15 Division 2
Lohana U15 v Bessborough U15A
Bessborough won by 61 runs
24/5/2012

The talented Maloney brothers, Dillon and Ray, put Lohana to the sword with a match-winning 50-run partnership away to Lohana on 24 May.

Ray clearly likes playing against Lohana as he following up last week’shalf-century for the under-13s against the same team, this time scoring 35 runs. His elder brother Dillon paced his innings well, starting patiently before going up through the gears on the way to a brilliant 82, including four sixes.

Bessborough finished on 140 for 4 after 20 overs, a formidable score that Lohana never really looked like threatening.

Sharp Borough bowling and fielding, including two run outs, kept Lohana at bay and the home side could only reach 79 for 9. Rishav Shah (2-4) and under-13 player Hatim Kanchwala (2-11) were the outstanding bowlers.

Middlesex Colts Association North Area U15 Division 5
MTSSC U15B v Bessborough U15B
Bessborough won by 5 wickets
24/5/2012

Bessborough U15B secured a comfortable 5-wicket victory away to MTSSC on 24 May.

Despite the under-15 tag, the Borough side contained mainly under-14s and even two under-11s.

Bessborough lost the toss and were put to bat. Openers Kunal Patel (40) and Dominic Baxter (17) put up a partnership of 57, which was nearly matched by the next pairing as Patel and Hersh Punjani (19) put on another 51.

Ravi Vyas (19), Jack Graham Hovell (4) and Nirav Vyas (4 not out) all helped get Bessborough to a total of 154 for 5 off their allocated 20 overs.

Captain Dillon Popat (2-14) made the unusual decision toopen the bowling with his own spin, but it paid off as he took two wickets inthe first over.

This gave the captain the confidence to give some of the younger players a chance to show their talent and he was rewarded handsomely as under-11 player Kapil Kiritharan, who normally bowls at 19 yards rather than the full 22 and with a lighter ball, took 5-12 in three outstanding overs.

Manav Jassantilal, the other U11 in the team, also made asignificant contribution in the field, stopping three fours at third man and fine leg. He also bowled one over giving away 10.

MTSSC were eventually bowled out for 107 off 19 overs.
