Bessborough battered by Hornsey
Captain Phil Bush’s decision to bat first backfired spectacularly as his troops were rolled for a meagre 94 by table toppers Hornsey. Off the back of an impressive victory againt Edmonton Bush had no hesitation in batting first and continuingthe winning formula of setting a target, he did not legislate for his sides poor effort though. Only Adil Parker managed any score of substance and it was patently obvious that his side were horribly short.
Bessborough surrendered tamely in defence of their paltry target with Hornsey knocking itoff two down in a little under 40 overs remaining in the match. The 2XI will want to forget about this quickly and move on as they face Edmonton next who they bravely beat a fortnight ago.
Devasting Dinesh seal 3rd XI victory
CecilDinesh produced a batting masterclass as the 3rd triumphed againstOld Actonians. Having been put in on a sticky wicket, openers Dinesh and Gajan Gandhi set about posting a defendable target, what was to follow was an all-out assault. The two sub-continental players added 214 for the first wicket withsome devastating stroke play, hitting countless boundaries and leaving Actonians regretting their choice to bowl first. Gandhi then fell 26 short of awell deserved hundred but Dinesh carried on the pyrotechnics. He got to 133 before he was finally dismissed and with that captain Sothy Sothynathan calledhis troops in with the score on 255.
Bessborough then set about picking up the 10 wickets which would continue their charge to the top. Skipper Sothynathan struck a couple of early decisive blows as Actonians setup to ensure their side didn’t lose. This allowed the Borough to attack and that they did. Dillon Maloney bowled with guile beyond his 15 years as his legspin ripped through the batting line up. He finished up with 5-14 and captain Sothynathan snaffled three catches at silly-point off his bowling as the 3s won comfortably to go top of the table.
