THE OLYMPIC TORCH COMES TO THE BOROUGH
By James Wheeler

The Olympic Torch is coming to Bessborough Cricket Club next Wednesday (June 25) at 9.17am. The torch is leaving the Heritage Centre before doing a lap of the outfield. There will be a mock cricket match in the middle and we will have refreshments. Please come down and support the Borough on this once in a lifetime event.

Pinner View is closed to traffic and both of the car parks in the park are shut. Please use public transport or walk to the event. If you need to drive please be prepared to park well away from the club.

Please can you arrive about an hour before the torch arrives as there is expected to be a big crowd for this event.

The Olympic Flame arrived in London from Greece on May 18 before setting out the next day on a 70-day Olympic Torch Relay. By the end of the relay, the 8,000 Torchbearers will carry the flame to more than 1,000 cities, towns and villages and it will travel to within an hour of 95% of people in the UK, The Isle of Man, Guernsey and Jersey.
