BOROUGH BATTING IN 2012
By James Wheeler
Website Editor and professional stats man James Wheeler in The
first part of a three part series takes a look at our leading performers in
2012. In part one, Wheels takes a look at our leading batsman.
As we go into the final few weeks of the season our first
eleven captain Danny Hawes (right) and second eleven captain Phil Bush are neck in neck
as leading run scorers for the club. Both left handed opening batsman have
scored 581 runs this season with Hawes averaging 52.82 and Bush at 27.67.
Danny has had an excellent season and is averaging over 60
in the Middlesex League on Saturdays. He has struck 4 fifties this season with
a best of 98 against Alexandra Park. Dan has scored 501 runs in Saturday League
cricket and has made over 200 runs more than the next highest run scorer Ramesh
Gunalan.
Bushy has had a blinding season with the bat and has struck
7 fifties this season with a best of 76 against Edmonton
on June 2. He has been in devastating form at the top of the order in our
second eleven and has combined brilliantly with his role of captain.
Three batsman have scored over 400 runs with Andy Carr (491),
Adil Parker (467) and debutant Mark Emanuel (456) all scoring heavily this
season. We have scored 5 hundreds this season with Emanuel scoring two hundreds
this season.
