A new feature on our website this summer is our Player of the Month Awards from May until August. The Player of Month awards are purely decided by the website team and are not officially endorsed by the club. However we believe its a nice thing and can generate some extra interest on the site.

So the Bessboroughcc.com Player of the Month for May is our Club Captain Danny Hawes who had a truly exceptional month as a captain and even more impressively with the bat. Dan scored a mighty 339 runs in May at an average of 84.75 scoring two unbeaten hundreds in the process. He scored 173 more runs than our next leading scorer Alex Haniff.

Dan started the month by scoring 104 not out at local rivals Harrow St Mary's, he also skippered the side to an impressive 53 run win at their Old Millhillians Ground.

In the opening two Saturday League games, Dan made some good starts without making a big score, but in the final League game of the month he scored a career best 145 not out at last years champions Osterley. Agonisingly we came within 1 wicket of victory after getting Osterley 9 wickets down but Dan's leadership was once more a joy to behold. 

Overall this season Dan has scored 468 runs at an average of 66.86 with a total of three hundreds.

Other notable performers in May include Alex Haniff who is in his debut season with the club, scored 166 runs at 55.03 including 103 on his Bessborough debut at Highgate in our second eleven on May 11. 

Second Eleven Captain Phil Bush and teenage sensation Tahla Junaid also had good months with both scoring a half century each.

Sunday Captain Nirav Ghantiwala was our leading wicket-taker in May picking up 11 wickets at an average of 18 including 4-42 at Osterley in the Middlesex Championship at the end of the month. Also talented left-arm spinner Kibreeth Rameez picked up 11 victims at 16.90 and scored a valuable 47 not out with the bat in our second eleven's win over Edmonton at the end of the month.
