BESSBOROUGHCC.COM PLAYER OF THE MONTH - MAY
By James Wheeler

May proved to be very hard for cricket clubs in this country with London especially suffering torrential downpours. Opportunities to impress were limited, but there was one stand out candidate for the Bessboroughcc.com Player of the Month . . . . and that was Andy 'Geezer' Carr.

After an injury hit 2013, Geezer was looking to bounce back this summer and he proved to be the outstanding player of the month scoring two half centuries in three innings at an average of 74.. His tally of 148 runs was only beaten by first team opening batsman Ramesh Gunalan who had two more innings. He scored back to back half centuries on the weekend of May 17-18 with 55 against Wycombe House and a 92 not out on the Sunday against British Airways.

A close runner-up in the Player of the Month awards was young off spin bowler Mitesh Vyas who had an excellent month picking up 10 wickets at an average of just 12 and with a strike rate of a shade over 22.
