WESTY AND THE WEST INDIES
By James Wheeler

Bessborough legend Graeme West continues to tear up trees in his role Head Coach of the West Indies High Performance Team.

Even though Westy hasn’t played at the club for over 10 years, we are still incredibly proud of him and his achievements.  He progressed through our colts and became one of the finest players to pull on the Bessborough shirt. Not content with plundering club attacks, he became one of the finest coaches in England, working with Middlesex County Cricket Club for 13-years working with junior and academy sides and also assisting the first team. In 2012, Westy left Middlesex and green countryside of England to move to Barbados to take over as Head Coach West Indies High Performance Team.

Since 2012 he has been responsible for developing a batch of exciting young cricketers which hopefully long term will put the West Indies back to the top of world cricket where we belong. He is currently with the West Indies A team on their tour of Sri Lanka working alongside one of the greats of our wonderful game, Sir Viv Richards.

West Indies A play three unofficial One-Day Internationals in Sri Lanka and a one-off Test Match which begins in Hambantota on Saturday morning.

Everybody at Bessborough CC wishes Westy and the West Indies ‘A’ team the best of luck in Sri Lanka and for the future.
