Bessboroughcc.com is delighted to report that Fast Bowler Sharuban ‘KP’ Kanthasamy made his debut for an Essex Cricket Board Development XI at Southend on Thursday in their win against Bedfordshire Second Eleven. It was a special day for KP, who not only made his debut, he also picked up the best figures in the match, with his 4-35 from his 10 overs.

The Essex Cricket Board Development XI  won the toss and batted with wicket-keeper Jack Potticary scoring 104 as they were bowled out for 298 in 50 overs with our KP being five not out. Bedfordshire tested Essex all the way and were eventually bowled out in the final over just three runs short of their target. As well as being the leading bowler on the day, KP also took a crucial catch in dismissing opening batsman Duxbury for just 11.

Despite playing only twice for the club this season due to injury and work commitments, it has been a memorable start to the season for KP. As well as representing the Essex Cricket Board Development X , he was also chosen to bowl at the Sri Lankan Test Team at Chelmsford last month in preparing them for their Test Match Tour of England. As well as bowling at the Sri Lankan squad, KP also got to meet and chat to the touring party including Captain Angelo Mathews (pictured).

Since making his debut for Bessborough in 2013, KP has picked up 83 wickets in 81 games including a season best 43 wickets in 2015. KP hopes to pull on the Bessborough shirt this coming weekend.
