Important wins for the 1st & 2nd XI

05 Jun 2011

IMPORTANT WINS FOR FIRSTS & SECONDS
By Sherrick Chavda

This weekend the 1st and 2nd XI came away with big wins.  The 1st XI played against South Hampstead at home and after a strong bowling display, we restricted South Hampstead to 197 off 44 overs on a very good batting pitch.  Every bowler contributed, including 4-22 for club captain Sherrick Chavda.  The runs were knocked off with 4 overs to spare and 4 wickets in hand thanks to 40's from Wayne Whitson, Ramesh Gunalan, 50 from Ian Barrie and a controlled 36* from Urooj Ahmed.

The 2nd XI were away to Enfield.  Enfield batted first and posted a good score of 248 leaving an interesting chase on the cards with the pitch not doing anything all day.  Ian Ridley started slowly being 32 of 30 overs, however he then took off and ended up with 80.  Sanil Shah scored a brisk 50 and was well supported by Sanj Dissanka who smashed his way to 30 in no time at all.

The 3rd XI came away with a losing draw this weekend.  We bowled excellently but due to some terrible umpiring decisions, Perivale made 265.  Bessborough Batted admirably but had to settle for one point.

Overall it was a great weekend for the 1's and 2's, well done boys!
