Bessborough Cricket Club 1st Eleven v Osterley on Sat 02 Jun 2012 at 1pm
Bessborough Cricket Club Won by 10 wickets (10pts)
Match report
Ian Barrie and Ramesh Gunalan were the stars as Bessborough first eleven picked up their second win of the season with a dominant 10 wicket victory over Osterley at Headstone Manor last Saturday. Bessborough blasted out Osterley for 90 and chased the runs in only 25 overs without losing a single wicket.
Everything went right on the day for captain Danny Hawes after he won the toss on an overcast afternoon at Bessborough’s Headstone Manor ground. Opening bowlers Ian Barrie and Nirav Ghantiwala quickly reduced Osterley to 30-5 with a mixture of excellent swing bowling, good fielding and some erratic batting. The Borough fielding was superb with Andy Carr and James Wheeler both taking excellent catches in the field.
Osterley managed to rebuild their innings and eventually managed to creep up to 90 all out with their number 4 batsman Rizvi ending 40 not out. Barrie eventually finished with figures of 5-40 while Ghantiwala and Ramesh Gunalan both picked up 2 wickets each.
Borough opening batsman Hawes and Gunalan batted positively from ball one mixing the correct balance between attack and defence as the Osterley bowlers strived for an important early breakthrough. Both players gave the odd chance but all in all they both batted beautifully with the Borough reaching their target in under 26 overs and just before 5pm with Gunalan finishing with 63 and Hawes with 32.
Next week Bessborough face local rivals Old Lyonians at Headstone Manor with the Borough looking to avenge their defeat 2 weeks ago.
